Eesha Khare, an 18-year-old American student of Indian origin, received a Young Scientist Award of $50,000 from the Intel Foundation for inventing a phone charger that fits within the cell and can re-charge its battery in just 20 to 30 seconds.

The grand prize of the annual Intel Science event ($75,000) went to Ionut Budisteanu of Romania who created a model for a low-cost, self-driving car (something Google has been raking its brain over for quite a while).

A Tumblr blogger says her mom “has 8 years of art education” and yet works as a waitress. Her family is also originally from Florence, Italy – a country the blogger’s mother has always wanted to see.

A stranger ate at the place where the artist-by-calling is currently working, leaving a generous tip of $1000 on a $60 bill. That was after him and the waitress had a conversation, in which the latter expressed her desire to visit the country of her ancestors one day. “Your ticket to Italy – Enjoy!”, said the note on the bill.
